The GEP laureates’ tour - 2017 is nearing completion

The Global Energy Prize laureate 2017 - Michael Graetzel delivered a lecture on the Youth day at the Moscow State University.

The next turn point of the laureates’ tour for Michael Graetzel was Moscow. The scientist told his colleagues about the current prospects for the development of solar energy, about the discovery and unique properties of a new class of materials for solar batteries - organo-inorganic hybrid perovskites, which already now demonstrate efficiency above 22%, rather high stability, simplicity of production and low price, on a youth day at Moscow State University.

All this allows speaking about the maturing revolution and the possibility of changing the energy paradigm of humankind.

Professor GRAETZEL is known as the inventor of the dye-sensitized solar cells (the so-called Graetzel cells), and as a leader in the perovskite photovoltaic field. The scientific group of Professor M. Graetzel owns several world records of the effectiveness of perovskite solar cells.

Recall that the first country that received the laureate this year was South Korea, where he spoke at the opening of the plenary lecture of the 6th International Solar Forum Sungkyun 2017. Special attention to the event scientists paid to the phenomenon of perovskite batteries, which are based on a technology Graetzel cells. The scientist also visited China, Singapore, Italy and Mexico within the framework of tour.

The Global Energy Prize laureates’ tour is a thematic series of speeches by world-famous scientists, where they talk about their developments recognized by the Global Energy Prize. Visiting the leading international platforms in the field of energy and delivering scientific reports in different countries of the world, the laureates also present a prize to the professional community and thus contribute to broadening the boundaries of international scientific cooperation.
